So I just beat the Ds game Super Princess Peach. Basically Bowser has found a magical scepter that can control ones emotions. Bowser then sends his army and kidnaps Mario, Luigi, and a bunch of toads but leaves peach. This leaves the princess in charge of rescuing everyone. Before she leaves Toadsworth gives her a magical talking umbrella named Perry who helps her control her emotions in order to fight her enemies with them. Also, there is a back story for the umbrella where they hint that he used to be a Human (Toad?) and wizard turned him into an umbrella because wizards don’t have anything better to do apparently. It’s not even a sort of hinting at that he used to be a Toad (Human?) what they consider subtle hints blatantly says it out loud the first time and I’m pretty sure they were just using it as filler for after the boss battles because the game wasn’t long enough. Speaking of boss battles, they stripped all possible difficulty from the bosses by telling you exactly how to defeat the bosses right before going into the battle, except for the Bowser fight, but that one was so ridiculously hard to find out that I wished that the umbrella HAD told me to beat him I eventually had to look it up online to figure it out, and as it turns out, Yo have to take a bob-omb and hold it near his mouth when it opens and hope it explodes before he closes his mouth but OH WAIT HIS MOUTH IS ONLY OPEN WHEN BOB-OMBS AREN’T AROUND HOIP DOIP. and when the bombs are around he only opens his mouth for about 1 millisecond then never opens his mouth again. I eventually had to just avoid interacting with the bob-ombs so they wouldn’t explode and then waiting until bowser just kept opening and closing his mouth. I guess he got bored of the battle too and just accepted his fate. The way to fight the minor enemies was the same as any Mario game, and by that I mean jumping on them, although you could have just wiped out the enemies with your emotions. That is you COULD but the game seems to urge you to NOT use your emotions almost constantly. “Hey there’s a ledge up there, I better use my emotion that helps me fly. Oh wait there’s a floating ledge right there never mind” Also, they way princess peach’s emotions work is that she has a sort of gauge thing that only allows her to use them for so long before she becomes and emotionless freak that just gives you a blank stare from the touch screen. Now you are probably thinking, ” So how do you replenish your emotions? Do you just wait for it to replenish itself?” No, you stupid person that makes sense why would they do that? No. The way to replenish your emotions is to have the annoying exposition umbrella to EAT YOUR ENEMIES. My god, before Peach found the umbrella was she just an emotionless wreck? “Hey princess It’s a me! and I have a rescued you from the a bowser”. “Yes. Thank you Mario. We are forever in your debt.”The only relatively difficult part was searching for the toads. But you cant just leave them to die because you need to have found them all in order to have a showdown with Bowser. While the plot sound like a good basis for a game, the toads are annoying as hell to find, and the ridiculous back story the umbrella has, I have to say I was disappointed. The game was way too easy.the boss battles would have been difficult if they didn’t tell you how to beat the bosses before you go into battle with them. Although all in all, if you need something to kill time I would seriously suggest renting this game. Although it is ridiculously easy, the umbrella told you how to do everything leaving nothing for the player to solve, I would have to give this game 3 1/2 awesomes out of 5
